Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 3.52% or 0.43 points to trade at 12.65 at the close. Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) added 3.02% or 0.15 points to end at 5.12 and Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) was up 2.69% or 0.29 points to 11.06 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6), which lost 3.95% or 0.98 points to trade at 23.85 in late trade. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) declined 3.53% or 1.70 points to end at 46.50 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) shed 2.27% or 0.16 points to 6.89.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 270 to 164 and 41 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.45% to 33.67.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.73 to $1294.03 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.70% or 1.00 to hit $57.95 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.64% or 0.81 to trade at $128.03 .
USD/BRL was down 0.16% to 3.2274, while EUR/BRL fell 0.43% to 3.8407.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 92.85.
