Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Electric Power, Consumption and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.20% or 1.61 points to trade at 39.91 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 3.64% or 0.62 points to end at 17.65 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 3.35% or 0.46 points to 14.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which lost 3.15% or 0.17 points to trade at 5.22 in late trade. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 2.17% or 0.23 points to end at 10.39 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) shed 2.08% or 0.17 points to 8.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 207 to 204 and 34 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 5.75% to 26.12.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.06 to $1296.66 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.14% or 1.04 to hit $47.62 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.24% or 1.63 to trade at $130.07 .
USD/BRL was up 0.70% to 3.1683, while EUR/BRL rose 1.13% to 3.7422.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 93.03.
