Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 2.54% or 0.17 points to trade at 6.85 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) added 2.40% or 0.29 points to end at 12.39 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.04% or 0.22 points to 11.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which lost 4.33% or 0.77 points to trade at 17.01 in late trade. Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) declined 3.13% or 0.34 points to end at 10.51 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 2.63% or 0.89 points to 33.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 233 to 186 and 47 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.20% to 31.27 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.28% or 16.90 to $1339.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.97% or 0.62 to hit $64.42 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.27% or 0.33 to trade at $122.25 .
USD/BRL was down 0.29% to 3.2061, while EUR/BRL rose 0.92% to 3.9044.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 1.01% at 90.73.
