Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Financials and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which rose 8.58% or 0.60 points to trade at 7.59 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 4.53% or 1.36 points to end at 31.35 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 3.59% or 0.54 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which lost 11.11% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.20 in late trade. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) declined 6.07% or 0.74 points to end at 11.46 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) shed 4.02% or 1.26 points to 30.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 158 to 131 and 25 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.31% to 57.20 a new 6-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.02% or 12.40 to $1231.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.82% or 0.65 to hit $36.35 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 1.21% or 1.48 to trade at $121.05 .
USD/BRL was up 1.50% to 3.6798, while EUR/BRL rose 1.47% to 4.1898.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 94.59.
