Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Basic Materials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.65%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3), which rose 5.75% or 1.53 points to trade at 28.15 at the close. Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) added 4.62% or 0.47 points to end at 10.65 and Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) was up 4.26% or 1.26 points to 30.86 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 2.30% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.92 in late trade. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 1.59% or 1.05 points to end at 64.80 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3) shed 1.56% or 0.70 points to 44.30.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 249 to 156 and 40 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.50% to 34.71.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.51% or 6.40 to $1249.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.71% or 0.52 to hit $73.28 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 1.28% or 1.50 to trade at $115.88 .
USD/BRL was up 0.02% to 3.8615, while EUR/BRL rose 0.12% to 4.4661.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 95.04.
