Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 8.41% or 1.31 points to trade at 16.88 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 8.08% or 1.47 points to end at 19.66 and Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA Pref (SA:GOLL4) was up 6.25% or 0.66 points to 11.22 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB3), which lost 2.46% or 1.23 points to trade at 48.78 in late trade. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) declined 1.48% or 0.16 points to end at 10.65 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) shed 1.19% or 0.26 points to 21.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 270 to 160 and 41 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.33% to 45.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.00 to $1213.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.71% or 1.17 to hit $69.70 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.38% or 0.39 to trade at $102.78 .
USD/BRL was down 0.40% to 4.1193, while EUR/BRL fell 0.30% to 4.8223.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 94.46.
