Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Viavarejo Unt (SA:VVAR11), which rose 6.70% or 1.35 points to trade at 21.50 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) added 6.12% or 1.43 points to end at 24.78 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 5.95% or 0.89 points to 15.84 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cvc Brasil ON (SA:CVCB3), which lost 4.52% or 2.08 points to trade at 43.92 in late trade. BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) declined 2.88% or 0.62 points to end at 20.89 and IGUATEMI ON NM (SA:IGTA3) shed 2.59% or 0.79 points to 29.71.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 228 to 193 and 25 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 2.39% to 34.29.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.27% or 3.50 to $1299.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.14% or 0.09 to hit $66.19 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 0.17% or 0.20 to trade at $117.42 .
USD/BRL was unchanged 0.00% to 3.7111, while EUR/BRL fell 0.28% to 4.3609.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 93.81.
