Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.54% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were BRF SA (SA:BRFS3), which rose 4.92% or 1.84 points to trade at 39.24 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) added 2.42% or 1.07 points to end at 45.22 and Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) was up 2.41% or 0.74 points to 31.49 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 5.28% or 1.15 points to trade at 20.65 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.29% or 0.45 points to end at 10.03 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) shed 2.52% or 0.55 points to 21.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 287 to 181 and 24 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.89% to 29.11.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 1.40 to $1320.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.85% or 0.53 to hit $61.48 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 1.04 to trade at $128.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.16% to 3.2294, while EUR/BRL fell 0.37% to 3.8892.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.69.
