Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumption, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.48% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which rose 4.08% or 0.67 points to trade at 17.09 at the close. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 4.00% or 1.26 points to end at 32.74 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 3.48% or 0.75 points to 22.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which lost 3.61% or 0.76 points to trade at 20.30 in late trade. Telefonica Brasil SA (SA:VIVT4) declined 1.72% or 0.86 points to end at 49.04 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) shed 0.91% or 0.31 points to 33.88.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 262 to 130 and 43 ended unchanged on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.74% to 26.31.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.37% or 4.70 to $1292.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.63% or 0.38 to hit $59.59 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 1.93% or 2.35 to trade at $124.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.10% to 3.3158, while EUR/BRL rose 0.45% to 3.9438.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 92.61.
