Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Electric Power and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.03%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which rose 4.39% or 0.79 points to trade at 18.80 at the close. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) added 3.13% or 2.20 points to end at 72.40 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) was up 2.63% or 0.55 points to 21.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which lost 8.28% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.87 in late trade. Gerdau SA Pref (SA:GGBR4) declined 2.25% or 0.29 points to end at 12.62 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) shed 2.03% or 1.51 points to 73.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 211 to 205 and 40 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 11.32% to 27.43.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.08% or 14.35 to $1344.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.62% or 1.24 to hit $48.53 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.61% or 0.78 to trade at $128.10 .
USD/BRL was down 0.82% to 3.1156, while EUR/BRL fell 0.66% to 3.7116.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 92.28.
