Investing.com - The S&P/ASX 200 added 116.2 points or 1.8% to 6,758.8 during Friday’s trading session, finishing the week just 0.1% lower as risk sentiment returned to the markets following last night’s U.S. consumer price index report.
Among stocks, Energy surged 3.8% amid higher crude oil prices. Woodside Energy Ltd (ASX:WDS) added 4.1%, Santos Ltd (ASX:STO) gained 4.4%, Beach Energy Ltd (ASX:BPT) lifted 5.6% and Viva Energy Group Ltd (ASX:VEA) gained 3.9%.
Utilities finished 3.6% higher as Origin Energy Ltd (ASX:ORG) lifted 4.8%, Genesis Energy Ltd (ASX:GNE) gained 2.6% and AGL Energy Ltd (ASX:AGL) added 1.3%.
On the bond markets, Australia 10-Year yields were at 4.014% while United States 10-Year rates were at 3.942%.
In New Zealand, the NZX 50 gained 0.5% to 10,868.1.
