Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Consumer Goods and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.19% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Montepio (LS:MPIO), which rose 21.29% or 0.132 points to trade at 0.752 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) added 3.68% or 0.430 points to end at 12.120 and Novabase SGPS (LS:NBA) was up 3.35% or 0.107 points to 3.300 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which lost 4.28% or 0.2420 points to trade at 5.4180 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 1.26% or 0.1750 points to end at 13.7300 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) shed 0.82% or 0.0019 points to 0.2300.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 24 to 11 and 4 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 2.45% or 1.28 to $50.96 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.42% or 1.20 to hit $48.46 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.48% or 6.02 to trade at $1268.12 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1234, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8715.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 96.94.
