Germany stocks lower at close of trade; DAX down 1.52%

Investing.com – Germany stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Telecoms and Insurance sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 1.52% to hit a new 3-months low, while the MDAX index declined 1.01%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.35%.

The best performers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Post AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DPWGn), which rose 2.26% or 0.590 points to trade at 26.725 at the close. Meanwhile, K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) added 0.36% or 0.140 points to end at 38.805 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (XETRA:HEIG) was down 0.49% or 0.350 points to 70.990 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Commerzbank AG O.N. (XETRA:CBKG), which fell 3.73% or 0.435 points to trade at 11.225 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (XETRA:DBKGn) declined 2.95% or 0.830 points to end at 27.345 and Lanxess AG (XETRA:LXSG) was down 2.48% or 1.350 points to 53.170.

The top performers on the MDAX were Suedzucker Mannheim Ochsenfurt AG (XETRA:SZUG) which rose 1.64% to 15.150, Fielmann AG O.N. (XETRA:FIEG) which was up 0.95% to settle at 61.750 and Man SE ST O.N. (XETRA:MANG) which gained 0.22% to close at 92.400.

The worst performers were Bilfinger SE O.N. (XETRA:GBFG) which was down 3.09% to 33.520 in late trade, Aareal Bank AG (XETRA:ARLG) which lost 3.05% to settle at 34.620 and Tui AG NA (XETRA:TUIGn) which was down 2.79% to 14.300 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (XETRA:NEKG) which rose 6.59% to 31.300, PSI AG F.Pr.U.Sys. NA (XETRA:PSAGn) which was up 2.52% to settle at 11.000 and Evotec AG O.N. (XETRA:EVTG) which gained 1.83% to close at 3.330.

The worst performers were Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) which was down 4.15% to 3.630 in late trade, QSC AG NA O.N. (XETRA:QSCG) which lost 3.40% to settle at 1.732 and Drillisch AG O.N. (XETRA:DRIG) which was down 2.18% to 38.180 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange by 541 to 197 and 34 ended unchanged.

Shares in K & S AG NA O.N. (XETRA:SDFGN) rose to 52-week highs; up 0.36% or 0.140 to 38.805. Shares in Kontron AG O.N. (XETRA:KBCG) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.15% or 0.157 to 3.630.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 1.66% to 26.64.

Gold for August delivery was down 0.10% or 1.20 to $1166.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.58% or 1.43 to hit $54.09 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.34% or 2.02 to trade at $58.30 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1084, while EUR/GBP fell 0.64% to 0.7094.

The US Dollar Index was down 0.14% at 96.24.
