Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Pharmaceutical Industry and Warehousing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 7.71%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Terumo Corp. (TOKYO:4543), which rose 11.56% or 346.0 points to trade at 3340.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shionogi & Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4507) added 11.54% or 495.0 points to end at 4785.0 and Nitto Denko Co (TOKYO:6988) was up 11.18% or 798.0 points to 7938.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toshiba Corp. (TOKYO:6502), which rose 1.01% or 3.4 points to trade at 340.6 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (TOKYO:6773) added 1.22% or 3.0 points to end at 248.0 and Maruha Nichiro Corp (TOKYO:1333) was up 1.93% or 33.0 points to 1740.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1859 to 17.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.51% to 32.88.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.23% or 0.10 to $45.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.23% or 0.12 to hit $49.63 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.11% or 1.20 to trade at $1122.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.59% to 120.52, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 134.42.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 96.22.
