Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Warehousing, Steel and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:2502), which rose 2.51% or 98.0 points to trade at 4008.0 at the close. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) added 2.28% or 30.0 points to end at 1345.0 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) was up 2.16% or 65.0 points to 3080.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which lost 3.66% or 9.5 points to trade at 250.1 in late trade. J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:3086) declined 2.60% or 44.0 points to end at 1651.0 and NTT Docomo, Inc. (T:9437) shed 2.35% or 65.5 points to 2717.5.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1551 to 1429 and 366 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.34% to 18.34.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.43% or 0.23 to $52.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.52% or 0.29 to hit $55.41 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 3.55 to trade at $1194.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.49% to 114.53, while EUR/JPY fell 0.20% to 122.81.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 100.30.
