Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Other Electronic and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 10.00% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.20 at the close. Sunko Ink (TW:1721) added 10.00% or 1.35 points to end at 14.85 and Htc Corp (TW:2498) was up 9.96% or 6.70 points to 74.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 10.00% or 0.17 points to trade at 1.53 in late trade. Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) declined 7.14% or 0.15 points to end at 1.95 and China Tv (TW:9928) shed 5.29% or 0.28 points to 5.01.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 583 to 179 and 88 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.58% or 0.77 to $49.39 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.48% or 0.72 to hit $49.33 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.43% or 5.30 to trade at $1223.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.27% to 32.619, while TWD/CNY rose 0.15% to 0.2000.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.53.
