Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Plastic, Auto and Other sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Walton Chainte (TW:2425), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Green Seal (TW:1262) added 9.91% or 11.50 points to end at 127.50 and Global Lightin (TW:4935) was up 9.90% or 7.80 points to 86.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Twinhead Intl (TW:2364), which fell 7.27% or 0.20 points to trade at 2.75 at the close. Nuvoton (TW:4919) declined 6.51% or 2.05 points to end at 29.45 and Walsin Tech (TW:2492) was down 5.28% or 1.10 points to 19.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 488 to 351 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Global Lightin (TW:4935) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.90% or 7.80 to 86.60.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.63% or 0.23 to $36.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.75% or 0.27 to hit $36.49 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.18% or 1.90 to trade at $1078.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.75% to 32.833, while TWD/CNY fell 0.05% to 0.1976.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 98.45.
