Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.11%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP), which rose 3.35% or 2.74 points to trade at 84.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) added 2.08% or 2.30 points to end at 112.85 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was up 1.76% or 0.56 points to 32.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which fell 4.84% or 4.67 points to trade at 91.83 at the close. Technip (PA:TECF) declined 2.61% or 1.06 points to end at 39.72 and Lafargeholcim Ltd (PA:LHN) was down 1.75% or 0.58 points to 32.92.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 9.51% to 11.28, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was up 4.43% to settle at 7.291 and Edenred (PA:EDEN) which gained 3.74% to close at 14.71.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 6.89% to 3.88 in late trade, CGG (PA:GEPH) which lost 6.00% to settle at 0.47 and Adocia (PA:ADOC) which was down 5.07% to 48.700 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 341 to 325 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.84% or 4.67 to 91.83. Shares in CGG (PA:GEPH) fell to all time lows; down 6.00% or 0.03 to 0.47.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.31% to 33.01.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.36% or 29.30 to $1210.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.15% or 0.34 to hit $29.10 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.73% or 0.91 to trade at $32.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1140, while EUR/GBP rose 0.82% to 0.7792.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 96.87.
