Investing.com – India equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Consumer Durables and Banking sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Healthcare, IT and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.10%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Tata Motors DV Ltd (NS:TAMdv), which rose 3.39% or 9.25 points to trade at 282.35 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) added 2.08% or 20.05 points to end at 982.65 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.02% or 81.50 points to 4125.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lupin Ltd (NS:LUPN), which lost 4.34% or 51.30 points to trade at 1131.05 in late trade. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS:SUN) declined 2.73% or 14.85 points to end at 529.15 and Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL) shed 2.31% or 12.70 points to 536.75.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Tata Motors Ltd (BO:TAMO) which rose 1.57% to 455.50, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which was up 1.46% to settle at 306.30 and Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (BO:APSE) which gained 0.67% to close at 362.65.
The worst performers were Lupin Ltd (BO:LUPN) which was down 4.40% to 1131.00 in late trade, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which lost 2.78% to settle at 529.15 and Wipro Ltd (BO:WIPR) which was down 2.24% to 254.95 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 825 to 745 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1302 rose and 1295 declined, while 143 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 3.62% to 10.9150.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.36% or 4.46 to $1259.06 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.58% or 0.26 to hit $44.72 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.94% or 0.44 to trade at $47.36 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.24% to 64.430, while EUR/INR rose 0.06% to 72.0100.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 97.31.
