Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Computers & Peripherals, Trading & Consumer Goods and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Loop Telecom (TW:3025), which rose 9.98% or 0.87 points to trade at 9.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Inventec Besta (TW:8201) added 9.93% or 0.90 points to end at 9.96 and Edimax Tech (TW:3047) was up 9.79% or 1.15 points to 12.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hannstar Displ (TW:6116), which fell 4.73% or 0.21 points to trade at 4.23 at the close. Space Shuttle (TW:2440) declined 3.96% or 0.31 points to end at 7.52 and Crowell (TW:2528) was down 3.86% or 0.28 points to 6.98.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 451 to 392 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Edimax Tech (TW:3047) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 9.79% or 1.15 to 12.90.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.70% or 0.54 to $30.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.39% or 0.44 to hit $32.19 a barrel, while the February Gold contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $1120.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.40% to 33.585, while TWD/CNY fell 0.10% to 0.1970.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 99.09.
