Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Via Tech (TW:2388), which rose 10.00% or 0.76 points to trade at 8.36 at the close. Meanwhile, Chang Type (TW:1541) added 9.99% or 3.85 points to end at 42.40 and Les Enphants (TW:2911) was up 9.97% or 1.65 points to 18.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aoc (TW:6289), which fell 6.96% or 0.08 points to trade at 1.07 at the close. Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) declined 6.77% or 0.18 points to end at 2.48 and Genesis Photon (TW:3383) was down 5.54% or 0.47 points to 8.02.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 507 to 333 and 3 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.96% or 0.36 to $37.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.40% or 0.15 to hit $37.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.24% or 2.60 to trade at $1073.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.68% to 32.775, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1975.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 97.95.
