Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 2.17%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 12.90% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) added 10.05% or 0.55 points to end at 6.02 and JBS SA (SA:JBSS3) was up 7.71% or 1.10 points to 15.37 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which fell 3.61% or 0.61 points to trade at 16.28 at the close. EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3) declined 2.58% or 0.17 points to end at 6.43 and Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) was down 2.40% or 2.30 points to 93.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 181 to 131 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.61% or 0.61 to 16.28.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.02% to 53.65.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.54% or 6.10 to $1133.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.94% or 0.88 to hit $46.29 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 2.13% or 2.58 to trade at $118.58 .
USD/BRL was up 1.55% to 3.7592, while EUR/BRL rose 0.83% to 4.2217.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.50% at 95.87.
