Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Financials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.76% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 5.26% or 0.0113 points to trade at 0.2260 at the close. Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) added 4.83% or 0.550 points to end at 11.945 and EDP (LS:EDP) was up 2.72% or 0.0850 points to 3.2100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 5.57% or 0.0170 points to trade at 0.2880 in late trade. Novabase SGPS (LS:NBA) declined 0.06% or 0.002 points to end at 3.180 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) shed 0.03% or 0.0010 points to 3.9840.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 27 to 8 and 8 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was down 3.84% or 1.95 to $48.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 4.14% or 1.98 to hit $45.84 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.33% or 16.55 to trade at $1231.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.81% to 1.0974, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8495.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 98.67.
