Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Iron & Steel and Auto sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 1.09% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were TY (TW:1568), which rose 9.97% or 3.45 points to trade at 38.05 at the close. In-Win Dev (TW:6117) added 9.97% or 1.70 points to end at 18.75 and Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912) was up 9.92% or 12.00 points to 133.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yuen Chang Stainless Steel Co Ltd (TW:2069), which lost 6.21% or 1.75 points to trade at 26.45 in late trade. Chenming Mold (TW:3013) declined 5.45% or 1.30 points to end at 22.55 and Chung Hung Ste (TW:2014) shed 5.35% or 0.50 points to 8.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 627 to 170 and 76 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $52.40 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $54.86 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.63% or 8.10 to trade at $1286.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.09% to 30.425, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2276.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 99.51.
