Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Power and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX added 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which rose 4.94% or 0.0042 points to trade at 0.0890 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 4.73% or 1.065 points to end at 23.565 and Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) was up 4.02% or 0.0230 points to 0.5950 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MegaFon OAO (MCX:MFON), which lost 2.14% or 16.00 points to trade at 731.00 in late trade. Moskovskaya Birzha OAO (MCX:MOEX) declined 1.46% or 1.53 points to end at 103.52 and Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) shed 1.33% or 170.0 points to 12570.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 121 to 92 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 1.16% to 36.770.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.47% or 5.80 to $1217.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.22% or 0.45 to hit $36.34 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.32% or 0.51 to trade at $38.16 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.03% to 68.2845, while EUR/RUB rose 0.87% to 77.816.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 94.52.
