Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which rose 3.04% or 0.0480 points to trade at 1.6280 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 2.13% or 0.2400 points to end at 11.5100 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) was up 1.93% or 0.1160 points to 6.1310 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 1.64% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.2400 in late trade. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) declined 0.09% or 0.0010 points to end at 1.1290 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) 0.00% or 0.0000 points to 15.3400.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 34 to 14 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for December delivery was up 2.60% or 1.21 to $47.73 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.24% or 1.00 to hit $45.67 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.56% or 7.45 to trade at $1322.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1202, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.17% at 95.51.
