Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO), which rose 2.92% or 31 points to trade at 1093 at the close. Meanwhile, Verhnesald MPO (MCX:VSMO) added 2.18% or 270.0 points to end at 12680.0 and Gruppa Cherkizovo ao (MCX:GCHE) was up 1.91% or 20.0 points to 1065.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PhosAgro ao (MCX:PHOR), which fell 3.07% or 88.0 points to trade at 2775.0 at the close. Sberbank Rossii OAO Pref (MCX:SBER_p) declined 2.91% or 2.00 points to end at 66.75 and Lenta Ltd (MCX:LNTA) was down 2.85% or 14 points to 478.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 126 to 113 and 11 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.07% to 44.260.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.91% or 10.00 to $1106.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 4.78% or 1.54 to hit $30.65 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 3.52% or 1.16 to trade at $31.68 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.78% to 79.560, while EUR/RUB rose 2.13% to 86.196.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 99.49.
