Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Other Electronic and Electronics sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Wei-Chuan Food (TW:1201), which rose 8.93% or 1.75 points to trade at 21.35 at the close. Meanwhile, A.G.V. Product (TW:1217) added 6.91% or 0.52 points to end at 8.05 and Lite-On Tech (TW:2301) was up 5.80% or 2.05 points to 37.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ko Ja (TW:5215), which fell 10.00% or 3.80 points to trade at 34.20 at the close. Candmark (TW:5259) declined 9.97% or 1.50 points to end at 13.55 and Fulgent Sun (TW:9802) was down 9.96% or 7.40 points to 66.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 551 to 287 and 6 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.41% or 0.20 to $50.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.16% or 0.09 to hit $56.56 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.37% or 4.10 to trade at $1102.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.36% to 31.223, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1986.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 98.19.
