Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.42% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which rose 3.43% or 0.48 points to trade at 14.48 at the close. Meanwhile, BR Properties SA (SA:BRPR3) added 2.65% or 0.30 points to end at 11.60 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 2.44% or 0.52 points to 21.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which fell 8.41% or 0.37 points to trade at 4.03 at the close. Gol Linhas Aereas Inteligentes SA (SA:GOLL4) declined 7.24% or 0.48 points to end at 6.15 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 6.02% or 0.76 points to 11.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 199 to 100 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) fell to 5-year lows; falling 8.41% or 0.37 to 4.03.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.73% to 31.18.
Gold for August delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $1096.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.88% or 0.96 to hit $50.24 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.76% or 0.97 to trade at $127.28 .
USD/BRL was up 0.24% to 3.1959, while EUR/BRL rose 0.21% to 3.4607.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 98.19.
