Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 3.10% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3), which rose 10.27% or 0.27 points to trade at 2.90 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 8.47% or 1.00 points to end at 12.81 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 7.94% or 0.68 points to 9.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which lost 2.82% or 1.24 points to trade at 42.76 in late trade. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 1.66% or 0.50 points to end at 29.70 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) shed 1.39% or 0.23 points to 16.27.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 200 to 105 and 16 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.11% to 46.97.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 0.18% or 2.20 to $1232.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $33.76 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.35% or 0.40 to trade at $114.85 .
USD/BRL was down 2.20% to 3.9280, while EUR/BRL fell 2.24% to 4.2704.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 98.35.
