Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.72%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Indra A (MC:IDR), which rose 3.84% or 0.351 points to trade at 9.494 at the close. Gas Natural (MC:GAS) added 3.33% or 0.570 points to end at 17.665 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) was up 2.97% or 0.585 points to 20.260 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 4.00% or 0.048 points to trade at 1.151 in late trade. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 1.69% or 0.070 points to end at 4.080 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) shed 1.42% or 0.017 points to 1.179.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 132 to 66 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.60% or 7.90 to $1319.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.21% or 1.10 to hit $48.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.20 to trade at $50.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1072, while EUR/GBP rose 0.72% to 0.8346.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.54% at 96.21.
