Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Semiconductor and Computers & Peripherals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Chenbro Micom (TW:8210), which rose 9.98% or 4.10 points to trade at 45.20 at the close. Aurotek (TW:6215) added 9.96% or 1.40 points to end at 15.45 and Precision (TW:3016) was up 9.92% or 2.40 points to 26.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Phytohealth (TW:4108), which lost 10.00% or 4.65 points to trade at 41.85 in late trade. Via Tech (TW:2388) declined 7.05% or 0.74 points to end at 9.76 and Aces Elec (TW:3605) shed 6.22% or 2.30 points to 34.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 510 to 242 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.27% or 0.49 to $38.95 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.52% or 0.21 to hit $40.54 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 2.42% or 29.70 to trade at $1259.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.31% to 32.597, while TWD/CNY fell 0.40% to 0.2002.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.64.
