Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Metals, Capital Goods and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (NS:TISC), which rose 5.20% or 16.25 points to trade at 328.55 at the close. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.77% or 4.05 points to end at 88.95 and UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC) was up 2.84% or 88.20 points to 3188.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bosch Ltd (NS:BOSH), which lost 2.91% or 576.15 points to trade at 19237.95 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) declined 2.00% or 9.25 points to end at 453.00 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:AXBK) shed 1.84% or 7.95 points to 424.65.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were TATA STEEL LIMITED (BO:TISC) which rose 5.24% to 328.45, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which was up 4.77% to settle at 88.95 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which gained 1.92% to close at 87.50.
The worst performers were AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.71% to 424.85 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:INFY) which lost 1.44% to settle at 1201.10 and ICICI Bank Ltd. (BO:ICBK) which was down 1.20% to 222.80 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1018 to 404 and 52 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 526 rose and 285 declined, while 37 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.72% to 17.3450.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.25% or 3.10 to $1226.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.93% or 1.05 to hit $36.94 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 2.35% or 0.89 to trade at $38.76 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.38% to 66.675, while EUR/INR rose 0.00% to 75.6400.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 94.91.
