Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Staples, Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 1.61%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA), which rose 3.45% or 1.130 points to trade at 33.800 at the close. Meanwhile, Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) added 1.96% or 0.580 points to end at 30.330 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) was up 1.51% or 0.350 points to 23.620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEX), which fell 4.54% or 1.800 points to trade at 38.090 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 4.19% or 1.870 points to end at 42.700 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was down 3.77% or 9.430 points to 240.010.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 94 to 69 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bolsa Mexicana De Valores SAB De CV (MX:BOLSAA) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.96% or 0.580 to 30.330. Shares in Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.77% or 9.430 to 240.010.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.97% or 10.70 to $1092.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.35% or 1.71 to hit $49.15 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.87% or 1.06 to trade at $55.98 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.76% to 16.1260, while EUR/MXN rose 0.59% to 17.6097.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.62.
