Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.85%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were MMK (MCX:MAGN), which rose 5.02% or 1.135 points to trade at 23.740 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRO) added 3.26% or 31 points to end at 981 and Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) was up 1.75% or 1.37 points to 79.87 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF), which lost 4.93% or 35.60 points to trade at 686.40 in late trade. NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK) declined 4.25% or 3.70 points to end at 83.40 and MTS (MCX:MTSS) shed 3.45% or 9.05 points to 253.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 138 to 72 and 25 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.03% to 36.250.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.33% or 4.15 to $1262.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.42% or 1.05 to hit $44.49 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 3.85% or 1.68 to trade at $45.31 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.45% to 66.2430, while EUR/RUB fell 0.53% to 75.474.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.18.
