Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , Financials and Optoelectronic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.32% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Hon Chu (TW:9939), which rose 9.89% or 4.75 points to trade at 52.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Gourmet Master (TW:2723) added 9.68% or 13.50 points to end at 153.00 and Asustek (TW:2357) was up 9.38% or 23.50 points to 274.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Merida Industr (TW:9914), which fell 9.95% or 19.00 points to trade at 172.00 at the close. Min Aik (TW:3060) declined 9.90% or 6.10 points to end at 55.50 and Tpk Holding (TW:3673) was down 8.37% or 8.50 points to 93.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 538 to 305.
Shares in Merida Industr (TW:9914) fell to 52-week lows; down 9.95% or 19.00 to 172.00. Shares in Min Aik (TW:3060) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.90% or 6.10 to 55.50. Shares in Tpk Holding (TW:3673) fell to all time lows; losing 8.37% or 8.50 to 93.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.15% or 0.07 to $43.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.32% or 0.16 to hit $49.55 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 5.90 to trade at $1113.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 1.41% to 32.520, while TWD/CNY rose 2.34% to 0.2011.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 96.93.
