Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Mining and Manufacturing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.97%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Mostotrest (MCX:MSTT), which rose 4.89% or 3.70 points to trade at 79.30 at the close. Meanwhile, PIK (MCX:PIKK) added 4.50% or 9.90 points to end at 230.00 and MVideo (MCX:MVID) was up 3.88% or 10.00 points to 267.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT), which fell 1.89% or 1.09 points to trade at 56.51 at the close. Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK) declined 1.79% or 0.90 points to end at 49.30 and RusHydro JSC (MCX:HYDR) was down 1.73% or 0.0105 points to 0.5965.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 114 to 99 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in MVideo (MCX:MVID) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.88% or 10.00 to 267.80.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 0.17% to 36.190.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.52% or 5.50 to $1059.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 4.06% or 1.62 to hit $41.56 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 4.58% or 1.95 to trade at $44.44 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.00% to 68.076, while EUR/RUB rose 3.60% to 74.113.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.92% at 98.12.
