Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Telecoms, Banking and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 1.09% to hit a new 3-month high, while the ADX General index added 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO), which rose 14.43% or 0.115 points to trade at 0.912 at the close. Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) added 6.53% or 0.038 points to end at 0.620 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was up 4.00% or 0.300 points to 7.800 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which lost 6.56% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.710 in late trade. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 3.14% or 0.060 points to end at 1.850 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) shed 2.53% or 0.017 points to 0.655.
The top performers on the ADX General were National Marine Dredging PSC (AD:NMDC) which rose 14.95% to 5.23, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 13.79% to settle at 0.330 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which gained 11.11% to close at 1.00.
The worst performers were Green Crs Ins (AD:GCIC) which was down 9.01% to 1.010 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Rak (AD:RAKB) which lost 5.81% to settle at 5.51 and Methaq (AD:METH) which was down 3.75% to 0.770 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 15 to 11 and 3 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 19 rose and 11 declined, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.22% or 0.44 to $36.36 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.80% or 0.31 to hit $39.03 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1271.20 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.49% to 4.0236.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 97.62.
