Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the IT, Technology and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty declined 0.15%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were UltraTech Cement Ltd (NS:ULTC), which rose 2.19% or 62.25 points to trade at 2907.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) added 1.78% or 5.95 points to end at 340.35 and Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:BPCL) was up 1.70% or 14.45 points to 863.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC), which fell 3.61% or 9.50 points to trade at 253.90 at the close. Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA) declined 3.29% or 5.20 points to end at 152.65 and HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) was down 2.95% or 25.20 points to 829.90.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which rose 1.79% to 340.50, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which was up 1.39% to settle at 208.45 and Bajaj Auto Limited (BO:BAJA) which gained 1.30% to close at 2457.00.
The worst performers were Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was down 3.49% to 254.25 in late trade, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which lost 2.99% to settle at 86.00 and Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which was down 2.80% to 107.75 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 817 to 638 and 8 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 442 rose and 353 declined, while 2 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of S&P CNX Nifty options, was down 5.79% to 18.0150 a new 1-month low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.87% or 10.10 to $1154.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.20% or 0.10 to hit $47.01 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.14 to trade at $50.40 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.54% to 65.138, while EUR/INR rose 0.72% to 74.1270.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.01% at 94.89.
