Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Industrial Transportation and Media sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.08%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Valeo SA (PA:VLOF), which rose 1.66% or 2.30 points to trade at 140.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 1.47% or 0.315 points to end at 21.760 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.12% or 1.03 points to 92.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 4.71% or 1.96 points to trade at 39.52 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 1.79% or 0.200 points to end at 10.990 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was down 1.67% or 0.27 points to 15.56.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which rose 8.93% to 44.300, Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) which was up 3.52% to settle at 339.85 and Saft (PA:S1A) which gained 3.31% to close at 26.83.
The worst performers were Solocal Group SA (PA:LOCAL) which was down 6.13% to 6.985 in late trade, Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which lost 5.67% to settle at 6.405 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was down 4.71% to 39.52 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 426 to 289 and 60 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sartorius Stedim Biotech (PA:STDM) rose to all time highs; up 3.52% or 11.55 to 339.85.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 2.34% to 24.61 a new 1-month high.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.32% or 3.50 to $1084.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.98% or 0.40 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.47 to trade at $44.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.65% to 1.0704, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7035.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 99.36.
