Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were F-Pcl (TW:4977), which rose 9.98% or 5.30 points to trade at 58.40 at the close. Chun Yu Works (TW:2012) added 9.93% or 1.35 points to end at 14.95 and Super Dragon (TW:9955) was up 9.86% or 1.40 points to 15.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Candmark (TW:5259), which lost 9.73% or 0.33 points to trade at 3.06 in late trade. China Metal (TW:1532) declined 6.75% or 2.70 points to end at 37.30 and Choice Develop (TW:9929) shed 6.48% or 0.70 points to 10.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 467 to 249 and 136 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.23% or 0.11 to $47.54 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.14% or 0.07 to hit $48.87 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.75 to trade at $1367.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.25% to 32.316, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2067.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.14.
