Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Insurance and Finance & Investment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (TOKYO:5703), which rose 3.33% or 6.0 points to trade at 186.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeon Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8267) added 2.85% or 51.0 points to end at 1838.5 and TOTO Ltd. (TOKYO:5332) was up 2.72% or 95.0 points to 3585.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hino Motors, Ltd. (TOKYO:7205), which fell 5.32% or 69.0 points to trade at 1227.0 at the close. Mitsubishi Corp. (TOKYO:8058) declined 5.15% or 109.0 points to end at 2008.5 and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8031) was down 4.73% or 72.0 points to 1450.5.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 985 to 885.
Shares in TOTO Ltd. (TOKYO:5332) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.72% or 95.0 to 3585.0. Shares in Mitsui & Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:8031) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.73% or 72.0 to 1450.5.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.55% to 30.42.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.02% or 0.47 to $45.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.93% or 0.45 to hit $48.15 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.32% or 3.70 to trade at $1141.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 120.28, while EUR/JPY fell 0.44% to 134.38.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.11% at 96.47.
