Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Klepierre (PA:LOIM), which rose 2.48% or 1.01 points to trade at 41.58 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 1.89% or 0.27 points to end at 14.30 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was up 1.87% or 0.184 points to 10.045 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP), which lost 4.82% or 5.10 points to trade at 100.65 in late trade. Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) declined 4.73% or 0.87 points to end at 17.53 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) shed 4.05% or 1.24 points to 29.38.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which rose 6.06% to 11.54, Saft (PA:S1A) which was up 4.92% to settle at 26.67 and Natixis (PA:CNAT) which gained 3.27% to close at 4.893.
The worst performers were Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) which was down 4.82% to 100.65 in late trade, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which lost 4.73% to settle at 17.53 and GTT (PA:GTT) which was down 4.30% to 31.19 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 333 to 324 and 106 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.12% to 20.21.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 0.23% or 2.85 to $1243.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.24% or 1.38 to hit $44.02 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.98% or 1.32 to trade at $45.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1307, while EUR/GBP fell 0.49% to 0.7742.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 94.43.
