Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Marine Transport, Steel and Warehousing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Obayashi Corp. (TOKYO:1802), which rose 9.50% or 94.0 points to trade at 1083.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5707) added 8.54% or 27.0 points to end at 343.0 and Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TOKYO:8015) was up 8.13% or 213.0 points to 2832.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:9983), which fell 9.75% or 4740.0 points to trade at 43900.0 at the close. NTT Data Corp. (TOKYO:9613) declined 2.04% or 120.0 points to end at 5770.0 and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5201) was down 1.22% or 9.0 points to 726.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1610 to 260 and 1 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.83% to 25.63 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.64% or 0.81 to $50.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.21% or 0.64 to hit $53.69 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1144.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 120.14, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 135.52.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 95.35.
