Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Financials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.18% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Portucel (LISBON:PTI), which rose 4.22% or 0.1360 points to trade at 3.3590 at the close. Meanwhile, Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP) added 3.82% or 0.3670 points to end at 9.9700 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LISBON:BCP) was up 3.79% or 0.0022 points to 0.0602 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which fell 2.56% or 0.0001 points to trade at 0.0038 at the close. EDP (LISBON:EDP) declined 1.22% or 0.0420 points to end at 3.4010 and EDP Renovaveis (LISBON:EDPRu) was down 0.80% or 0.0500 points to 6.1690.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 31 to 20 and 2 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for November delivery was up 4.72% or 2.33 to $51.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 4.19% or 1.94 to hit $48.20 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.83% or 9.40 to trade at $1147.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.70% to 1.1266, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.7396.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.67% at 95.58.
