Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Rubber and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.81%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (TOKYO:3436), which rose 6.14% or 71.0 points to trade at 1228.0 at the close. Meanwhile, JTEKT Corp. (TOKYO:6473) added 5.32% or 90.0 points to end at 1781.0 and Pioneer Corp. (TOKYO:6773) was up 5.00% or 13.0 points to 273.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (TOKYO:9503), which fell 6.17% or 89.0 points to trade at 1353.5 at the close. Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (TOKYO:9502) declined 5.78% or 109.5 points to end at 1785.0 and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3863) was down 5.08% or 108.0 points to 2019.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1085 to 790 and 1 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.04% to 30.63.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.09% or 0.48 to $45.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.66% or 0.32 to hit $48.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.22% or 2.40 to trade at $1105.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 120.31, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 135.64.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 95.72.
