Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Biotech & Medical Care, Machinery and Semiconductor sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Maywufa (TW:1731), which rose 10.00% or 1.15 points to trade at 12.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Genesis Photon (TW:3383) added 9.96% or 0.70 points to end at 7.73 and Hold-Key (TW:1618) was up 9.94% or 0.63 points to 6.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ruentex E&C (TW:2597), which fell 4.79% or 1.85 points to trade at 36.75 at the close. Roundtop (TW:1540) declined 4.14% or 0.70 points to end at 16.20 and Tainan Cayman (TW:5906) was down 3.91% or 0.09 points to 2.21.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 447 to 397 and 1 ended unchanged.

Crude oil for October delivery was down 2.18% or 0.99 to $44.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.95% or 0.96 to hit $48.59 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1140.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.65% to 32.460, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.1962.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 95.62.
