Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Oil & Gas and Auto sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 rose 0.23%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index climbed 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Aurobindo Pharma Ltd. (NS:ARBN), which rose 3.85% or 31.75 points to trade at 857.00 at the close. Bank Of Baroda (NS:BOB) added 3.58% or 5.80 points to end at 167.70 and Grasim Industries Ltd. (NS:GRAS) was up 3.11% or 146.40 points to 4854.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Cipla Ltd. (NS:CIPL), which lost 3.84% or 23.15 points to trade at 579.70 in late trade. Tech Mahindra Limited (NS:TEML) declined 1.52% or 6.50 points to end at 420.65 and Coal India Limited (NS:COAL) shed 1.42% or 4.65 points to 323.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:MAHM) which rose 3.06% to 1405.95, Gail (India) Ltd. (BO:GAIL) which was up 3.06% to settle at 374.05 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 2.52% to close at 75.30.
The worst performers were Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was down 3.44% to 580.25 in late trade, ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which lost 1.63% to settle at 241.55 and Coal India Limited (BO:COAL) which was down 1.45% to 322.55 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1244 to 245 and 45 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2028 rose and 611 declined, while 177 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 6.88% to 17.1800.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.29% or 3.90 to $1329.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.09% or 0.52 to hit $47.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.24% or 0.62 to trade at $49.19 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.27% to 66.627, while EUR/INR fell 0.69% to 74.4520.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 95.73.
