Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Trading, Investment Trust and Construction & Engineering sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 1.22% to hit a new 52-week low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Eden Hotel Lanka PLC (CM:EDEN), which rose 25.00% or 3.00 points to trade at 15.00 at the close. Central Investments and Finance PLC (CM:CIFL) added 25.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.500 and F L C Holdings PLC (CM:FREE) was up 9.09% or 0.10 points to 1.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 24.81% or 645.10 points to trade at 1955.00 in late trade. Ceylon Beverage Holdings PLC (CM:BREW) declined 22.87% or 172.00 points to end at 580.00 and Lucky Lanka Milk Processing Company Ltd (CM:LLMP) shed 16.00% or 0.40 points to 2.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 144 to 54 and 39 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.51% or 0.55 to $37.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.69% or 0.67 to hit $40.32 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.33% or 4.20 to trade at $1258.70 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.04% to 206.090, while USD/LKR rose 0.12% to 145.135.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.36.
