Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Construction & Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 1.87%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which rose 2.57% or 0.77 points to trade at 30.69 at the close. Meanwhile, Altice NV (AS:ATCA) added 0.87% or 0.12 points to end at 14.55 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.29% or 0.17 points to 59.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL), which fell 5.64% or 0.30 points to trade at 4.95 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 5.55% or 0.20 points to end at 3.49 and Randstad (AS:RAND) was down 4.55% or 2.47 points to 51.87.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 160 to 17.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 12.09% to 29.71 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.56% or 0.53 to $33.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.77% or 0.27 to hit $33.97 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.46% or 15.90 to trade at $1107.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.0860, while EUR/GBP rose 1.17% to 0.7454.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 98.82.
